I believe anger has been and will always be, a matter of control.

Bottling it or venting it with catharis, it makes no difference when it comes to certain people. There are those who do well with keeping such things tightly restrained regardless of circumstance (venting or not), and those who cannot deal with it in any constructive manner.

It's the person, not the emotion, not the anger. When I hold my anger in, I deliberately store it for later---it is there for a purpose, not because I am trying to bottle it up and do away with it. I consider it 'good' that it is there lurking beneath the surface, because when the time comes I let it loose, I use it. Basically, it becomes useful, when before it was nothing but a burden.

Anger can be twisted into many things. Unfortunately because it is very overwhelming, it's easy to let it be the master, as you said.

It has its uses, both positive and negative.

[...] I fear dreading down a dangerous path, for if my heart remains in the wrong place, in the realm of superficiality and addiction to power and praise, then do I perhaps head in the direction of self-interest and utter self-absorption? It is a very real possibility, and I also tantalize the thought that it is perhaps linked to my struggle with perfectionism. [...]

I can agree, the first viewing you are simply just wowed by everything happening, it's the subsequent viewings that get you thinking. For myself, each subsequent viewing reveals something new to me.

Thank-you. The philosophical aspects of the Matrix do tend to be overlooked (from my own experience) in the first viewing. However, after viewing the film many times over, I have found that it clearly highlights various ideas and concepts to the audience. It is more than 'Man VS Machine'; it is about control and the systems of control that exist in our own lives. The film prompts us to question how aware of our situation we really are, or are we asleep? Are we passive consumers? The risk of falling into the category is that once one is ignorant, one is highly susceptible to manipulation. The Wachowski brothers prompt us to open our minds and ask the question: are we being manipulated? Are we the victims of rigid thinking? Is our society mechanical? And many other questions that appear throughout the trilogy.

I came across your blog on MATRIX through some random search and am highly impressed with the thought process that has gone into it. Even this description of yours was unique too but I think would be more interested in knowing in who the real human is behind these thoughts

In many aspects we have become like the humans living in zion. The example of consumers is an excellent one cited by you,as I believe that modern day consumers hardly question the believe set which is entrusted on them by the manufacturer of the product. We hardly question how the new improved product is actually "improved" from the previous one. Though everyone did take a look on the movie just as an action flick but this philosophical side is often missed out.
